-PHILOSOPHY

Our philosophy

We cross-pollinate nature with art and design to create intriguing pieces that are easy to maintain.

Context

Today, most of us spend approximately 90 percent of our time inside. By adding plants to your space you’ll be creating a more fresh and vibrant atmosphere. Plants help neutralize air impurities and reduce the quantity of harmful compounds and dust in the air. We believe the healthiest indoor climate is a naturally humidified, chemical-free space, rooted by an infusion of lush green plants and natural materials.

Location, Light & Plants

Root Volume’s module design system allows for varied sizing that can be adapted to any location. There are great plants for all types of light exposure ranging from very low to direct sunlight.

We’ll work with you on a design that fits your space with plants best suited to your light conditions.

Container Design & Materiality

Exploring materiality is an essential part of Root Volume’s creative direction. We look for every opportunity to repurpose environmentally friendly materials and celebrate their qualities in new, usable forms to support healthy root systems.

Water & Air Flow

Root Volume’s container design balances aesthetics with a sub-irrigation system that supports vibrant indoor growth. Watering the plants is as simple as watering regularly potted plants and doesn't require any extra time.

Research shows the most essential part of the air purification process occurs in the root system of plants, due to the microbe population living there. These microbes remove harmful compounds from indoor air by breaking them down into nutrients for the plants. Root Volume is continually exploring this research to manifest new and creative containers that support a healthy indoor environment.
